The following are some things clients have given as feedback and testimonials to describe their experience of counselling :
I am able to be my real self now more and more , live with honesty and be true to my heart. I understand where I have come from, who I want to be and what is most important in my life......it's been a journey to knowing myself. Losing someone I loved made me realise I needed this special & healing time for me"
"Counselling has mean't having somebody to listen, to understand and to encourage me to allow myself to honour the person I loved and looking after me at the same time."
"I know I can overcome my anxiety now , I realise I am capable of more than I thought ."
My Approach :
I work with Individual Adults, Adolescents and Parents. I offer both long and short term counselling at affordable rates.
We are a mixture of our past and our future potential - we have unconscious motivations, some things we are aware of and some things are not so clear. Our unconscious self may not realise what we are truly capable of .........the key is learning to understand who we are and living our lives with more awareness of ourselves.
My approach to counselling is very much about you and your well-being at the centre - everyone is unique and my training being Integrative and Humanistic means that I can draw on a number of models in my approach to make therapy very individualistic. Nothing is too large or small to bring to counselling - if it matters to you, then it is important to me!
What makes my approach different?,
I use a combination of humanistic, psycho-dynamic and integrative approaches: I have taken a wide variety of training and I always come back to the same philosophy in my work - this is that people have inner resources that will guide them and give them resilience if they can find them and allow themselves to listen to and be with their feelings . In the counselling session of 50 minutes you have a confidential , safe place to access your emotional world. I take an holistic perspective on well-being and believe that there needs to be balance in our mind, emotions, body and soul. We are made up of so much more than just one aspect of us .
How can counselling help?
Counselling can help us to contain and make sense of our experiences, to discover more about ourselves and maybe try out new ways of being and face issues in ourselves and in our lives. The counselling space allows us to be creative and think without limitations, listen to ourselves and explore who we are .
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
During our initial meeting I carry out an assessment of your needs , from this you have the opportunity to decide if you would like to work with me and I can assess if my approach is appropriate for you. Counselling is best if the client is ready to engage with the process and they feel comfortable with the therapist.
